Cinnamon Raisin Oatmeal

Ingredients:

1 cup cooked oat groats or steel cut oats

1/8 tsp salt

1 Tblsp brown sugar

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 cup raisins

Directions:

If  the oats are not already hot heat them for ~1 min in the microwave. Once the oats are hot, stir in the salt and sugar. Then thoroughly mix in the cinnamon. Lastly, stir in the raisins. Enjoy!

  1. Would it work if I throw the dried fruits, nuts, seasoning, etc., into the thermos along with the grain when cooking cereals overnight?

  2. Absolutely. You might want to add a bit more liquid, just depending on how much dried fruit you put in since it will rehydrate the fruit and take some of the water.

  3. Adding cinnamon and maple syrup is fine while cooking the oats, but add the salt just before eating. Is that right?

  4. I tried this the other night. It worked great, but the food was stone cold. I heated the thermos before hand and added boiling water to the oats afterwards. I thought it would be at least warm the next morning, but I guess not. That was disappointing. I used a small stainless steal Thermos brand container. Do you have any advice?
